For Rowena Jackson’s Year 6 class at Prospect Primary in Grand Cayman, Earth Day 2008 will certainly be a special memory.  That was the day they were celebrated as the winners of Disney’s Planet Challenge onboard the Disney Magic.  Honored Students

Principal:  Mrs. Gloria Bell

Through their project entitled “Protecting Our Natural Habitat,” the students protected a pond at their school by removing trash and debris, planting native plants to attract wildlife and creating campaign signs to reduce litter at their school.  They also created a school compost pile to educate fellow students and teachers on the importance of limiting waste whenever possible.  Finally, the class reached out to the greater community with the creation of an original song titled “Thinking Green Is Not So Mean” that played on local radio stations as part of a public service announcement in the Cayman Islands.
