CELEBRATION, Fla. – Adults seeking a getaway at sea have even more opportunities aboard the Disney Magic with new lounges, clubs, restaurants, activities and a spa among the exciting enhancements. Whether it’s dancing away an evening of nightclub revelry, savoring a gourmet meal or spending a pampering day at the spa, adult guests aboard the Disney Magic will discover new experiences from stem to stern.
After Hours entertainment district
When the sun falls behind the ocean horizon, that’s when After Hours comes to life aboard the Disney Magic. An all-new lineup of clubs includes revamped venues for dancing, comedy and variety shows.
The new adult entertainment district is designed to offer a “sleek and sophisticated” night of fun, according to Joe Lanzisero, senior creative vice president for Walt Disney Imagineering.
“Each space has a different dynamic and feel to it, all with a certain energy level,” says Lanzisero. “We want to offer an entire evening of clubbing in one convenient location.”
As its name suggests, Fathoms night club is a celebration of the sea, utilizing special effects, lighting and sound to create a calm atmosphere early in the evening before turning up the excitement later at night. For example, a singer or comedian might perform in the early evening hours before yielding to the bright lights and bass beats of a high-energy dance club at night.
“The ocean can sometimes be very calm and sometimes be filled with some big excitement,” Lanzisero says. “That’s the variety of experiences we created with Fathoms.”
For guests seeking a more low-key nighttime experience Keys piano bar and lounge will deliver. Whether guests want to relax with a signature Manhattan cocktail and the soft sounds of a piano or “wind down” after an evening of dancing and revelry, Keys provides a refined retreat with handcrafted cocktails that are finished tableside.
Traditional days of olde are recalled in O’Gills Pub, an Irish pub and sports bar designed with rich green accents and dark woods. In front of the bar, traditional barstools encourage conversation, while imported and domestic draft beers and liquors offer countless libation options behind the bar. Video screens and an updated sound system feature rollicking tunes and live televised athletic events for music- and sports-lovers.
Senses Spa & Salon
For the ultimate in supreme relaxation and pampering, Senses Spa & Salon offers many indulgences. The size of the spa has been expanded by 725 square feet to a total of nearly 11,500 square feet. With the additional space utilized for new spa services, this haven of personal harmony provides an unmatched ocean-view environment.
The sleek new reception area features a contemporary color-wash of earth tones—a soothing spectrum of hues to serve as a backdrop to the menu of relaxing and rejuvenating treatments.
The enhanced salon features additional styling, manicure and pedicure stations with the latest equipment. For a gleaming shipboard smile, teeth whitening in the Smile Spa is among the new services offered in Senses.
For the gents, a brand-new two-chair barbershop offers the best in tonsorial indulgence. Men can choose from a variety of grooming services including haircuts, and the ultimate in men’s facial pampering—hot-lathered shaves.
Palo specialty restaurant
Disney Cruise Line’s popular Palo restaurant received a makeover with stylish wood fixtures, glass artwork panels, new stone floors and decorative lighting. Red and white striped poles reminiscent of those found throughout the canals in Venice are a design feature. A rich interior color palette—inspired by Venetian artwork—complements gourmet dishes that please guests’ palates. While the look of Palo is enhanced, the world-renowned modern Italian cuisine and elegant dining experience has not changed. Open to guests 18 and older, Palo serves dinner and brunch.
H2 … OH! for Adults
Other new experiences of interest to adult guests are the waterful spaces on the top decks. Among the features: the AquaDunk water thrill slide. The three-story slide begins with a surprise launch that sends riders on a near-vertical free fall inside a tube that takes twists and turns and even sends guests spiraling 20 feet beyond the ship deck.
The Disney Magic also offers adult-only spaces on the top decks. Adults have their own Quiet Cove Pool on Deck 9, as well as several adult-only spaces like Cove Café and Signals that offer a place to relax, read, listen to music, watch television or enjoy a cooling beverage.
